Policies

Return Policy 

  • All current return policy guidelines and conditions apply.
  • Returns and exchanges will be accepted on eligible products in new condition, with your original receipt, and any tags within 14 days of purchase.
  • New textbooks purchased for fall courses may be returned for refund with your original receipt and in new condition to the extended date of October 1. 
  • New textbooks purchased in December for January courses may be returned for refund with your original receipt and in new condition to the extended date of January 31.
  • Access codes or E-Books that have not been redeemed are also returnable on or before October 1 or January 31.
  • Access codes or eBooks that have been redeemed are not returnable.

For clothing and gifts, returns and exchanges will be accepted on eligible products in new condition, with your original receipt, and any tags within 14 days of purchase. Please see below for details on Web Order returns and course materials. Drinkware is only returnable if defective.

All bedding (with the exception of pillows, mattress pads, and final sale items) has a two-week return policy from the day of purchase. Returned goods must be unused, unwashed, and in like-new condition including all original packaging & labels attached.

Web Order Returns

Returns will be accepted on eligible products in new condition, within 14 days of delivery, and with the original web order receipt. The return period for orders being picked up begins upon order pickup or 7 days from order completion, whichever occurs first. We will return your updated original web order receipt once your refund has been processed.

Shipping within Canada web order returns:
If your item(s) arrive damaged or you receive an item(s) that doesn't match your web order receipt, a pre-paid return shipping label can be sent to you. Otherwise, we do not cover return shipping costs.
To begin the return process email weborder@uwo.ca with your web order number (eg. WEB01234567) and indicate which product(s) you intend to return and why. Alternatively, bring your eligible return(s) with the original web order receipt to Western Bookstore Customer Service desk during our regular store hours.

Shipping outside of Canada web order returns:
We are unable to provide pre-paid return shipping labels outside of Canada or cover return shipping costs.

Alternatively, bring your eligible return(s) with the original web order receipt to Western Bookstore Customer Service desk during our regular store hours.

We reserve the right to refuse any return.

Course Book Extended Dates

  • New textbooks purchased for fall courses may be returned for refund with your original receipt and in new condition to the extended date of October 1.
  • New textbooks purchased in December for January courses may be returned for refund with your original receipt and in new condition to the extended date of January 31.
  • Access codes or E-Books that have not been redeemed are also returnable on or before October 1 or January 31. Codes or E-Books that have been redeemed are not returnable.

 Reduced/Used Textbooks

  • Reduced or Used textbooks are only returnable for purchases for fall courses with your original receipt to the extended date of October 1. Otherwise used textbooks are not returnable.

Exam Period Restriction

  • Fall and winter textbooks for the current term purchased respectively after December 2 or March 20 are not returnable.
  • Restrictions on return periods for Education & Health Sciences course materials may vary.

Non-Returnable Items

  • Some items are marked non-returnable: custom course books & vouchers, multimedia product, technical course requirements, CDs, redeemed access codes, calculators, custom orders including custom kits, magazines, test preparation guides, access codes/ebooks, shipping costs, medical equipment, used books*, travel mugs, water bottles, undergarments, etc.
  • Exchange only on sale merchandise.
  • Textbooks with used access codes are non-returnable.

Clothing & Giftware 

  • Giftware as well as clothing that has not been worn or washed is returnable within 14 days. You must have your original receipt and the items must be in new condition with original tags attached.
  • For sale items, you have up to 30 days from the date of purchase to exchange clothing and giftware for similar items.
  • Drinkware is non-returnable.

Defective Goods

  • We will replace defective items or assist you in exercising your warranty rights with the manufacturer provided you have the original receipt.

Method of Refund

  • Please note that if you paid by credit or debit card, a refund will be issued by the same method with the original card.
  • Purchases made by cheque will be refunded in cash or by cheque at our discretion.

Custom Course Books

  • A custom course book has been printed especially for you and it is not returnable for refund or exchange.
  • Present your original receipt for your custom course book tomorrow after 4:00 pm at the Customer Service Desk in Western Bookstore
  • Due to the high volume of vouchers from August 15 to September 30, we cannot guarantee books will be available at 4:00 pm.
  • If you purchase your book on Friday or Saturday, present your original receipt for your custom course book on Monday after 4:00 pm.
  • Because of copyright regulations and royalties that are paid to publishers, vouchers must be redeemed within 60 days of purchase. After 60 days the course book will be destroyed and your original receipt will not be honoured.
  • Keep your cash register receipt. It is your proof of purchase and mandatory for voucher redemption.

Terms of Sale

Price and availability information is subject to change without notice. While we take great care to ensure that information on our site is accurate, mistakes may occur. When a mistake is noticed we will correct it as soon as possible and will notify customers who are affected.

We reserve the right to cancel, terminate or not to process orders (including accepted orders) where the price or other material information on this site is inaccurate.

We reserve the right to cancel an order if there is not enough inventory of an item to complete your order (or if an item is no longer available). If we cancel or do not process an order for such reason(s), we will advise you that the order has been cancelled and will either not charge you or will apply a credit to the payment type used in the order.

All prices quoted are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated.
